Acne Medicines

There are several different factors that affect the formation and distribution of acne. Oil, dirt, food, allergies, skin type and follicle size all play a part in the development of acne blemishes. Acne medicines focus on one or several of these factors.

If you are plagued by acne you are more than aware of the overwhelming number of products that are available for treatment – both over the counter and as prescription medications. With all of these medications how do you decide which is best for your skin type, sensitivity and your age?

The acne medicine you chose should be determined by the type of acne you have, your skin type and the sensitivity of your skin. Most products require at least 2-3 weeks before you see improvement because of the physiological response of the skin. It can take up to 3 months before your skin clears completely if the acne medicine is successful.

Accutane Acne Treatment

Acne is a medical skin condition that affects 4 out of 5 people between 12 and 25. For severe acne studies have shown some positive results with Accutane acne treatments. But are the risks worth the benefits?

Accutane, or Isotretinoin, is used on severe nodular acne. However, cautious physicians limit the use of the medication to patients whose emotional and psychological stressors make the severe acne a severe emotional problem.

The use of Accutane acne treatment comes with many cautions and requirements. Accutane acne treatments are used in both men and women. The cautionary procedures for men are less than women because Accutane acne treatments are linked with severe birth defects, miscarriage, pre-mature birth and the death of the baby.

Natural Acne Treatments

Acne is a common skin condition among both males and females. A definitive cause of acne is not known but most triggers have been identified. Natural acne treatments use the bodies ability to heal itself when given the right nutrients as well as preventative measures to avoid triggers.

Many acne sufferers look for medications and treatments (over the counter, mail order and prescription) to treat their skin conditions and reduce their emotional and psychological suffering. Due to a blockage of skin follicle ducts that lead to oil glands acne causes inflammation, blockage, and bacterial growth that results in pimples, pustules, whiteheads and blackheads.
